The Knoxville Museum of Art Announces New Board of Trustees Chair

August 16, 2013 (Knoxville, TN) -- The Knoxville Museum of Art is pleased to announce the election of Bernard S. Rosenblatt as the KMA’s new chairman of the board. Rosenblatt heads up the KMA board after serving previous years as KMA chair-elect, chair of the KMA strategic planning committee, chair of the KMA education committee, as well as serving on the KMA Board of Trustees since 2005.

Rosenblatt retired as executive director of the Knoxville Jewish Alliance in 2005, and has served on numerous boards and committees in Knoxville in addition to the KMA. These include Leadership Knoxville Class of 2004; Knoxville Jewish Community Family of Funds; Past President of the Board, Knoxville Jewish Alliance; Past Chair, S.E. Consortium Partnership with Hadera-Eiron, Israel; UT College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, Dean's Board of Advisors Emeritus; UT Chancellor's Associates, Class of 2005; FBI Citizens Academy; and Fellow of the College of Fellows of the American Theatre.

“The KMA is going through tremendous changes right now and I am excited to serve as board chair during this time,” said Rosenblatt. “It is a privilege to serve with such a dedicated board and professional staff. With our 25th anniversary campaign to enhance, repair and complete our remarkable building, and installing the most ambitious and monumental figural glass sculpture anywhere by Richard Jolley, we are evolving to a new level. The bar has been raised and I look forward to being a part of this transformation. It is exciting not only for the museum, but for the entire city of Knoxville and surrounding areas.”

Rosenblatt received a B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Miami; an M.A. in Speech and Drama from Stanford University; and a Ph.D. in Theatre Arts/Education from the University of Missouri.
