Introduction to the Pre-Renaissance Style of Painting Series
Tuesday, March 26, Wednesday, March 27, Thursday, March 28, and Friday, March 29
In this series of classes, layers of oil paint and artists’ medium give richness, light, and life to your paintings. In the first session, we will use Burnt Umber for the underpainting. Using Terpenoids, brushes, Q-tips, and rags to work out the values of your subject. That layer will need to dry. Then, we begin to layer in color thinned with the artists’ painting medium, adding multiple layers and colors. Lastly, shadows and highlights are added for contrast and composition. This simple technique will enhance your work in unbelievable ways! Materials list available.
Members $375/Non-members $400 (ENTIRE SERIES)
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR—
Marga McBride “My method begins in drawings and maquettes in clay. My inspiration comes from many sources. Observation is key in everything, every day…dreams, writings, poetry, meditations and reading give off imagery that becomes fodder for the hands…sometimes I do not know what, or who, will show up in my work. If I follow the bead of inspiration, the piece will become what it was intended to be; whether I am conscience of the progression or not…yet my goal is to tap into the universal undercurrent that we are all wired to, to listen to that channel and offer up reflections of ourselves and our times.” margamcbride.com
