CANCELLED – Alive After Five- “A Jazz Tribute to Beauford Delaney” featuring Jeanine Fuller & Marcel Holman BandMarch 20, 2020 6:00pm - 8:30pm
The Beauford Delaney and James Baldwin: Through the Unusual Door exhibition continues here at Knoxville Museum of Art through May 10. Delaney was Knoxville’s greatest visual artist, and we know from his biography, personal letters, and other archival information that he was also a great lover of music with eclectic tastes that drew him to a wide spectrum that included classical, blues, jazz, Italian opera, spirituals, and gospel. His biographer mentions that Delaney and Baldwin often sang together in various clubs they frequented in New York and Paris. With that in mind, this AA5 will pay tribute to Delaney’s love of music, particularly of jazz and blues. Saxophonist Marcel Holman brings together a wonderful ensemble of some of Knoxville’s best jazz musicians to perform with featured vocalist, Jeanine Fuller. There will also be some surprise guest singers to add extra excitement to this evening not to be missed.
All tickets are sold at the door beginning at 4:45 pm.
