Alive After Five with Efrat’s Experiment featuring Betina Hershey & Banjo NickaruSeptember 27, 2019 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Violinist and vocalist, Efrat Shapira, is an East Tennessee native who has been living and performing in the New York and New Jersey since her last performance at Alive After Five in the summer of 2002. She first met Nick “Banjo Nickaru” Russo at the Anyway Café in Brooklyn where he was performing. She was in awe of his amazing talent on a variety of instrument, and she later persuaded him to perform on her CD, “The Silver Lining.” Thus began a great friendship and musical collaboration, along with Nick’s wife, Betina Hershey. They all shared a love for the swingin’ jazz of the ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s, as well as he funk jazz of the ‘70s and other genres. Efrat plays music by her own rules and her own heart, and she’s found the perfect cohorts to do it with.
