Alive After Five with “Pardi Gras” with Roux du Bayou Cajun BandAugust 30, 2019 6:00pm - 8:30pm
The “Fat Friday Mardi Gras” Alive After Five has been the most popular theme show here for many years, and ever since their first performance at one of these back in 2012, by popular demand, Roux du Bayou Cajun Band has been invited back every year to play for it. This year, due to a scheduling conflict at the museum, we were unable to schedule “Fat Friday Mardi Gras,” but that’s not stopping us from bringing Roux du Bayou back to play for us.
Led by Paul Gregoire from Dulac, Louisiana, Roux du Bayou plays authentic cajun, zydeco, swamp pop, mardi gras music, and more. Their high energy style has brought them repeated engagements at a variety of venues all across the country. The band has been together for seventeen years, and in 2010, they won the prestigious 1st Runner-Up award in the category Prix de Hors Nous, for best cajun band outside of Louisiana, from the Cajun French Music Association. It’s a few months past Mardi Gras, so we’ll call it “Pardi Gras,” and everyone is encouraged to wear purple, gold, and/or green to add to the “Big Easy” merriment as we “laissez les bontemps roulez” on Labor Day weekend!
