Pottery with Character

This workshop will cover a variety of pottery-making and ceramic construction techniques using stoneware clay. Learn how to transform your vessels into characters that tell a story by using stamps, sculpting, and carving. We’ll cover surface decoration and firing, including under glazing and glazing techniques and sgraffito. We will explore drawing and explore various ways to incorporate imagery into the work. All skill levels are welcome and materials are included!

Bryan Wilkerson is a Tennessee native and Professor of Art and Design at Roane State Community College. His creative practices are focused primarily on ceramics and public art but extend into design and drawing. His work explores humor, craft, irony, and play through common symbolic references. He is also the creator and director of the ArtMobile traveling gallery and pop-up workshop space.
