December 6, 2011

December 6, 2011 (Knoxville, TN) – Celebrate the holidays with the Knoxville Museum of Art’s Family Fun Day Saturday, December 17 from 11am to 3pm. This holiday-themed day is packed with fun art-making activities, artist demonstrations, continuous entertainment on stage, and docents in the galleries.

Children of all ages can create art at one of the many art-making booths inspired by current exhibitions Higher Ground: A Century of the Visual Arts in East Tennessee, After the Fall, or the Sixth Annual East Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition.

In addition, the Thorne Rooms have been decorated to reflect the holidays, including 18th- century miniature vignettes of the season, presented by The International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA). Members of IGMA will be on hand to answer questions and help families make miniature wreaths.

Entertainment for Family Fun Day includes live music by the Lonetones, dance performances by Austin East Honors Academy Dance Company under director Peggy Burks Denny and assistant director Olivia Riggins, and free face painting by Kelly Mules of Faces Gone Wild.

Cabot Creamery will provide free cheese samples and Green Mountain Coffee will provide a special take home gift. Additional snacks will be available for purchase. Family Fun Day is free thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Regal Entertainment Group, Tennova Healthcare, Laura & Jason Bales, and the Artreach Fund
