Knoxville Museum of Art Participates with Full Service Community SchoolsMay 15, 2013 | BigWheel
May 15, 2013 (Knoxville, TN) — The SunTrust Foundation has partnered with the Knoxville Museum of Art by donating $10,000 to the museum to support its participation in the Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) program at Green Magnet Math and Science Academy and Pond Gap Elementary School.
The FSCS, directed by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is designed to improve the lives of at-risk students and their families through an after-school program. The SunTrust Foundation partnership allows the KMA to send professional art instructors to partner schools to teach afterschool art classes based on the museum’s collection and exhibitions, and to bring students and their families to the museum to experience first-hand this free community cultural resource.
The Knoxville Museum of Art celebrates the art and artists of East Tennessee, presents new art and new ideas, serves and educates diverse audiences, and enhances Knoxville’s quality of life. The museum is located in downtown Knoxville at 1050 World’s Fair Park and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday 10am–5pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm.Admission and parking are free.
