The Knoxville Museum of Art welcomes the community for several fun, educational, relaxing and free events during October.
Sunday, Oct. 8
- Second Sunday Art Activity; 1-4 p.m. Children in grades K-6 are invited to drop in for a hands-on art activity taught by a certified art teacher.
- Second Sunday Docent Tour; 1:55 p.m. for a 2-3 p.m. tour. Learn from a trained docent about the KMA collection and exhibitions on view.
- Community Paint Day at Fort Kid Park; 2-5 p.m. Join local mural artist Dustin Durham with the initial painting process of his interactive mural project at Fort Kid.
Tuesday, Oct. 10
- KMA Book Club; 6-8 p.m. Join us to discuss “All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me” by Patrick Bringley.
Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21-22
- In-gallery Movement Meditation Experience; 20-minute sessions at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. An enlivening, in-gallery movement experience led by instructor Jill Frere. Space is limited; register at knoxart.org/events.
Tuesday, Oct. 24
- Deaf Night at the KMA; 5:30-7:30 p.m. Deaf Night at the KMA welcomes Knoxville’s Deaf Community to an open house at the museum.
Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28-29
- In-gallery Guided Meditation; 3:30 p.m. Sessions led by Tammy Kaousias will further immerse you in the exhibition, Drink Up the Moon by Jane Cassidy. Space is limited; register at knoxart.org/events.
