Dr. Don Bacigalupi, executive director of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, will present an illustrated talk “From Vision to Reality: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.” Bacigalupi was responsible for the planning, organization, construction, and inauguration of Crystal Bridges, the nation’s newest major art museum, which the Washington Post calls “the most-talked-about new museum in the United States in a generation.” Since the November 2011 opening in Bentonville, Arkansas, Bacigalupi has overseen the key areas of professional staffing, governance, collections, exhibitions, and education programs.
Prior to joining Crystal Bridges, Bacigalupi served as president, director, and CEO of the Toledo Museum of Art, and executive director of San Diego Museum of Art.
The lecture series honors the memory of Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer and her many years of tireless, enthusiastic, and dedicated service to the Dulin Gallery of Art and the Knoxville Museum of Art. The event is made possible by the Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer Fund and is supported by The Frank and Virginia Rogers Foundation, The Melrose Foundation, and Wayne R. Kramer.
