Tennessee Triennial Weekend at the Knoxville Museum of Art | July 11–12

Celebrate Tennessee Triennial Weekend with an unforgettable weekend of art, music, film, family activities, and special appearances by acclaimed artist Wayne White.

Saturday, July 11

Start the celebration at the Knoxville Museum of Art from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM with KMA’s Mini Giant-Puppet Parade, created in collaboration with Cattywampus and accompanied by the lively sounds of the Honkers & Bangers. Wayne White—artist, puppeteer, and Emmy Award-winning designer known for his imaginative creations—will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal.

Everyone is invited to join the fun! Arrive at 10:00 AM to make your own colorful hand puppet (or bring one from home), then march in the parade as it winds through the museum grounds beginning at 11:15 AM. The celebration wraps up with a puppet dance party for all ages.

The festivities continue at 2:00 PM at Central Cinema with a special holiday-themed double feature:

• Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special
• Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas

Wayne White will introduce both films and share behind-the-scenes stories and insights into these beloved classics.

Admission: Free for KMA members | $5 for non-members

Sunday, July 12

The celebration continues on Sunday, July 12, with an interactive Musical Zoo presented by the Joy of Music School– Musical Zoo will be a drop-in experience between 1 and 4pm, as part of the normal 2nd Sunday Art Activity.

Directly after, don’t miss the final gallery talk for Wayne White: Revenge of the Knoxville Girl, your last chance to experience the exhibition alongside the artist and gain fresh insight through conversation and discussion.
